So does the LED display need to be used with an air conditioner? With this question, we consulted the senior engineer of hola-led, and the answer was: the air conditioner needs to be installed according to the specific situation.
If it is used indoors and the area of the screen is larger than 15 square meters, choose air conditioners according to this rule. Northern cities use 1P air conditioners for 15-25 square meters; southern cities use 1P air conditioners for 12-18 square meters. . If it is less than 15 square meters, there is generally no need to install additional air conditioners.
If it is used outdoors, it needs to be selected according to the outdoor installation structure and environment.
1. If it is a wall-mounted LED display with an area of more than 20 square meters, it is necessary to ensure that the host of the air conditioner has a place and does not affect the overall appearance of the wall. The choice of air conditioner is required. Generally, 1.5P, 2P and 3P air conditioners are used the most. Let’s take a look at the air conditioner specification estimation method.

To estimate outdoor LED display air conditioner specifications, you need to first estimate the heat dissipation inside the LED display screen and understand the cooling capacity (specification) of the air conditioner, because the cooling capacity of the air conditioner at this time represents the air conditioner’s removal from the LED display screen per unit time The total amount of heat removed from the internal space.
Regarding the cooling capacity of air conditioners, it is customary to use “Hits” to measure the current market. There are 6 types of common air-conditioning horses: 1 horse, 1.5 horses, 2 horses, 2.5 horses, 3 horses, and 5 horses. The corresponding cooling capacity is 2500 watts, 3500 watts, 5000 watts, 6000 watts, 7000 watts, and 12000 watts. (The cooling capacity is not the power consumption of air-conditioning, and the power of 1 HP air-conditioning is about 736W).
The internal heat dissipation of the LED display screen can be estimated as follows:
In the industry, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of LED tubes is usually set to 20%-30% (estimated), so the total thermal power consumption of the screen can be estimated as 70% of the total power consumption of the screen. The total thermal power consumption is deducted from the 6 outward-facing heat of the screen (about 20%), and the rest is the heat dissipation in the internal space of the screen, which accounts for about 50% of the total power consumption of the screen (to be exact, the total average Power consumption, because the display screen can’t always be played on a full white screen, with light and dark).
How does it work? Let’s choose an example to hypothesize. It is known that the average power consumption of an outdoor LED display is 450W/square (different products are different), and the area is 50 square meters. Then the total average power consumption of the display screen is 22.5KW. According to the 50% conversion rate of thermal power consumption, there is about 11KW heat generation inside the screen (the heat generated by sunlight is not taken into account).
However, at this time, the calculated heat value per unit time inside the screen cannot be directly used as a reference value for selecting the specifications and quantity of air conditioners. For example, 11KW divided by 6KW leads to the conclusion that two 2.5P air conditioners are required, because outdoor air conditioners are also considered. This factor is the structural characteristics of the LED display.
The internal width (channel width) of the outdoor LED display is generally between 0.8-1 meters, which is about 1/3 of the height of an ordinary residential room (2.8-3 meters), that is, the volume of the internal space of the display under the same area Only 1/3 of the volume of an ordinary residential room. According to the experience in real life, taking the ordinary residential room as a reference, inside the outdoor LED display screen, the cooling capacity of the 1P air conditioner can be increased by about 3 times (due to the smaller space), that is, the cooling capacity of 1P is equivalent to the The cooling capacity of 7500W in an ordinary room and 1.5P is equivalent to 10500W in an ordinary room…
So after calculating that the heat dissipation inside the screen is about 11KW, then we can choose two 1P air conditioners (equivalent to 2*7500W. Choosing two 1P air conditioners is more conducive to the cold air in the space than choosing a 2P air conditioner. Circulate evenly). It is normally recommended that the actual cooling capacity of the air conditioner be 40-50% larger than the internal heat dissipation of the screen, because the heat generated by the sun’s exposure to the screen must also be considered (the amount of sunlight in different regions varies greatly).
In a nutshell, the estimation method of outdoor LED display air conditioner specifications (hp) is the following two steps:
1. First estimate the heat generated per unit time inside the display screen: Q = average power consumption per square * display area * 0.5;
2. Use the value Q/3 to compare the cooling capacity of air conditioners in ordinary spaces (1 HP 2500W, 1.5 HP 3500W…), and select the appropriate air conditioner specifications and quantity; under normal circumstances, the cooling capacity of the air conditioner is required to be higher than Q/ 3 big 40-50%.
For the 50 square LED display mentioned earlier, the air conditioner specifications are calculated: Q=11kw, Q/3≈3.6kw, after comparing the common air conditioner specifications, you can choose two 1hp (2500w) air conditioners, which is just 5000w. 3600w is 40% larger.
The above matching specifications can adapt to most LED displays. If the LED outdoor display area is very large, the air conditioner can be customized by the manufacturer according to the above rules. If the area is not large, you can go directly to the specialty store to buy.
2. If your display is installed against the wall, it depends on how much the display can protrude. If it can protrude one meter from the wall, it is recommended to choose the fan according to the area, and the fan should be installed on the side of the screen. For example, it is enough to buy an 80 square P16 outdoor full-color LED screen, which means that you need to buy 6 axial fans with a diameter of about 600mm. And when installing the fan, make sure that there is a net inside to prevent the technician repairing the display screen from sucking in clothes and other things when repairing the display screen.
